After a turbulent week of voting last week, the Top 3 remain in tact in the latest VSN/GeauxPreps Volleyball Power 25 presented by K Miller Gem and Jewelry Brokerage.
After not dropping a set going 3-0 this week and beating two Power 25 teams along the way, Dominican received eight of the possible nine first-place votes and remains in the top spot.
“We had a really great week this week,” said Dominican coach Jessica Chatellier. “We have had consistent play from our veteran players and our younger players are really stepping up in big moments. It’s awesome to see them work hard and progress each week.”
Mt Carmel went 2-0 during the week received the other first-place vote and is No.2, followed by St. Michael who dealt U-High its first loss of the season Thursday at home.
Two new teams have cracked the Top 5.
After a 4-0 record at the Lady Lion Classic in Houma over the weekend Haynes is now 17-1 and moves up two spots to the No.4 position.
“I am super proud of how we competed this past weekend in the Lady Lion Classic,” said Haynes coach Ashley Miller. “We were faced with some really good competition and showed up with lots of energy ready to play. We executed our game plans and stayed consistent, which was our main focus. We are off to a great start to our season but we are not complacent and know there’s still plenty of work to be done.”
After a 5-0 finish at the Lady Lion Classic, four of those vs Power 25 teams, Slidell moves up three spots and is tied with St. Thomas Moore for No.5 who dropped one spot after losing this week to Sam Houston.
“We are excited about our tournament results this weekend,” said Slidell coach Danny Tullis. “We played well most of the time. We still need to be a little more consistent. However, we are moving in the right direction.”
